To become a NEBKC judge, the candidate must have bred the breed for which he will be a judge at least 2 years, he must have successfully passed the written judge's examination and have judged 3 x with a confirmed judge or have judged 3 x online on video according to our online confirmation protocol with satisfactory results. For more information about online confirmation, please visit SERVICE page, submenu "Online confirmation".

Judges have the responsibility to avoid any conditions or exaggerations that are detrimental to the health, welfare, essence and soundness of the breed they judge, and must take the responsibility to see that these are not perpetuated.

General appearance faults:

lack of harmony, obvious faults that spoil the appearance, not true to breed.

Cosmetic faults:

minor faults such as slight lack of pigment, scars, odd eye

Structural faults:

tail faults, size, bone structure

Health faults:

respiratory distress, eye conditions, deformed bones & joints, poor condition

behavioural faults:

aggressiveness, shyness, hyperactivity

Just to mention a few of them.

The judge must also consider whether the fault is genetic or possibly acquired. A dog that has too much undershot is certainly a genetic hereditary condition, on the other hand weak pasterns can be the result of malnutrition or poor conditioning.

Any departure from the standard should be considered a fault, and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree and its effect upon the health and welfare of the dog and to the conformity of the standard.
